No footage yet, but here is a scene from my screenplay I thought I’d share to peak interest!
EXT. WHIDBEY ISLAND FIELD AND FOREST – ESTABLISHING – MORNING
As the titles and bylines dissolve in and out and JULIA’s theme piano music plays, we see a CLOSE-UP of feet running on pavement and travel with the feet. As soon as the feet hit dirt, we travel with JULIA in a MIDSHOT. JULIA has a camera slung across her shoulder. We circle her and begin to pull back with STEADI-CAM as soon as she stops. When JULIA bends over to catch her breath, we cut to an EXTREME WIDE SHOT of JULIA in the Whidbey Island landscape. She is in a field. When JULIA straightens up, we are back with JULIA in a MEDIUM shot. She takes her camera looking at the shape of the tall grass before her. We see the grass over her shoulder. She kneels to take a close-up of the grass and with a click of the shutter; we see a still of the grass she just captured.
Back to the MEDIUM shot, she turns to continue running until she gets very small and we CUT TO the edge of the forest where in a MEDIUM shot we travel with her through the forest. When she stops running, she is again bent over but her gaze is directed towards something. We cut to JULIA looking up at the ominous chimney in the forest. As JULIA takes out her camera, the music subtly shifts to include dueling pianos and we see JULIA from the POV shot of someone hiding in the forest. We hear his breathing. A twig snaps at his position as he moves to get a closer look. JULIA turns to look. We duck from our POINT OF VIEW. We are back with JULIA in a MID SHOT. She does not see anything and proceeds to take photos of the chimney. With each click of the shutter, we see stills of the chimney she just captured.
We are back to JULIA’s theme piano music and we are in a CLOSE-UP of JULIA’s feet running on the forest path. We are back at the edge of the forest, where path meets country road, and see JULIA leave the path and run off camera to the left. Then, as the music shifts to that of dueling pianos, we focus in on the car of the NEWSPAPER DELIVERYMAN exiting a hidden driveway off in the distance and coming towards us on the road. With a swish of the tires, the car goes off camera to the right.
As soon as the car passes, the music continues with JULIA’s theme and we see JULIA arriving in front of her home in a WIDESHOT. She takes one last photo of her home. With a click of the shutter, we still the still of JULIA’s home she took and the screen quickly dissolves to white and then dissolves to the next scene.









































I saw a synopsis and some character descriptions on our dressing room wall at Whidbey Playhouse in Oak Harbor. I’d be interested to know more. Cooking up a script on this topic couldn’t have been easy. Tanks for listening. Fred
Hello Fred,
Thanks for your interest. I hope you can make auditions at The Lotus Tea Bar and Studio in Oak Harbor April 30th or May 1st at 6pm. The movie does deal with some serious issues. It is completely fictional, but personal experiences and interest made the story not too hard to come up with. I will be directing and a crew from California will be coming to shoot the movie this August.
