At Eidetic Film I am interested in legends. I first made a little movie called Ask Her while at  the University of California at Santa Cruz based on the legends of Santa Cruz. Now, the legends project is coming to Whidbey Island!

The first cinematic legend I will be producing on Whidbey is a film called Seeking Solace. It is about a former MP who fought in the front lines of Iraq and recently came back to Whidbey Island to her civilian job at the Whidbey Herald darkroom. Her episodes of post-traumatic stress disorder intersect with the legend of the haunted darkroom and a murder mystery the newspaper is covering. It’s a movie about what is not talked about in society and is my way of supporting our troops. Coming back from war mentally and physically intact is a legendary feat.

If you are a veteran organization that would like to partner with me. Let me know at holly@eideticfilm.com!

Right now I am in pre-production and am planning on shooting the film this coming August.

This movie will fulfill the visual component for my masters of applied arts graduate degree at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Hi Holly, I finally had a moment to visit your website and read about your work. I co-authored Terri Crisp’s newly released book, No Buddy Left Behind: Bringing U.S. Troops’ Dogs and Cats Safely Home from the Combat Zone. Interviewing soldiers and their families for hours, and writing their stories not only opened my eyes and nearly broke my heart, but surprised me at how they were so willing, so proud and grateful to be American soldiers and part of the best teams people could imagine. While getting my degree in Psychology at CSU Sacramento I did lots of research on the brain and on PTSD, as well as secondary PTSD, frequently experienced by psychologists and counsellors assigned to Mental Health stations, listening to first-hand stories over and over. The film you are making needs to be made. Bless you for what you are doing. I’d love to meet you. I just moved up from Sacramento in August to Whidbey Island – in Coupeville. Is there anything I can do to support your project?
